ASTER VNIR Level 1B : RGB=321 : 2001/08/03

The Iguassu Falls (Cataratas del Iguazu in Spanish, Saltos do Iguacu in Portuguese) is one of the greatest waterfalls in the world, situated on the borders of Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay in South America. The Falls spread nearly 2 km in a horseshoe shape and drop over 60 meters into the gorge below.
A mist over the waterfalls can be seen clearly in the image.

The Iguassu National Parks located on both sides of the Falls in Brazil and Argentina are listed as World Natural Heritage Sites by UNESCO.

In the north of image is the Itaipa Dam of the Rio Parana, the largest operating hydroelectrical plant in the world. The dam supplies the most of electricity in Brazil and Paraguay.
